How Much is a Movie Ticket Costs at Regal?

Regal is one of the most popular cinema chains in the United States. It is also known as the most geographically diverse.

This cinema chain operates 565 theaters spread across 42 US states, as well as in Washington DC, Saipan, Guam, and American Samoa. Regal cinemas are strategically located in areas where there is a huge movie-going population.

The chain of Regal Cinemas is a sister brand of two other well-known chains, the United Artists Theaters and the Edwards Theaters. These three chains was previously owned and operated by Regal Entertainment Group (REG), an American company with headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee.

History of Regal Theatres

In 1989, Regal Cinemas was established in Knoxville, Tennessee where its headquarters are still located. Mike Campbell, its first chief executive officer, undertook an aggressive expansion program with a focus on suburban areas. Many of these theaters featured high-end cafes and décor than their competitors at the time. It originally operated in two locations, and has expanded since.

The cinema chain experienced rapid growth in the following years, quickly establishing cinema chains in prime locations in the US. Regal drew customers in with its upscale look and excellent service.

Regal is considered to be one of the most prominent cinema chains in the US because of its focus in customer satisfaction, as well as in its efforts to make movie going experience enjoyable and memorable for all moviegoers.

The company is also engaged in numerous charity events, and has even founded its own foundation. The Regal Foundation organizes charity events which help other charitable organizations.

But the aggressive expansion took its toll so that by 2001, the chain declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The chain was later merged with two chains, the United Artists and Edwards Theaters with the Regal name being retained as the revitalized company’s namesake.

On December 2017, Cineworld announced its plans to acquire REG. By February 2018, the acquisition was completed resulting in Cineworld and its affiliated theater chains becoming the world’s second-largest cinema exhibitor.

How Much Do Regal Cinema Tickets Cost?

Regal theater ticket prices, you may have noticed, are a little above the average ticket price offered by other theater chains. The reason why Regal theater prices are higher is simply because of the higher quality movie experience (as you’ll not from the list of advanced technology above) and for their overall cinema atmosphere. No other theater offers the comfort and quality Regal cinemas can provide.

For specific pricing on your local Regal Cinema tickets, we recommend you head to Fandango or call your local cinema. Regal doesn’t have their own online purchasing system, but rather they’ve gone with fully outsourcing all of the operations to Fandango. However, you can buy bulk discount tickets through Regal’s site, which we’ll discuss below.

Military, Student, and other discounts

Many Regal Cinemas offer exclusive discounts for both active military personnel and students with valid IDs. Unfortunately, Regal aren’t too keen on sharing which locations offer them, or specifically how much the discounts are.

Not much help, unfortunately! We recommend you call up a few of the Regal’s near you and confirm over the phone or in person whether they provide discounts for military or students, whichever you’re after.

On the other hand, Regal are proud to be part of the worldwide move to offer extremely discounted tickets on select days at select locations. Here is just a few example of the discounted days:

  • Regal Fairfax Towne Center 10 – $5.95 movie tickets ALL DAY Wednesday + $6.45 movie tickets for every first show of the day
  • Regal Crystal Lake Showplace Stadium 16 – $6.59 movie tickets ALL DAY Tuesday
  • Regal Division Street Stadium 13 – $6.10 movie tickets ALL DAY Sunday & Tuesday
  • Regal Escondido Stadium 16 & IMAX – $7.50 movie tickets EVERY DAY before 12pm

As you can see, you could be saving nearly 50% of the cost of a regular priced ticket if you visit the cinema on their special offer day.

Regal Crown Club

Many companies in many different industries around the world have incorporated some sort of loyalty or rewards program to entice their customers to keep coming back. And Regal is no different.

The Regal Crown Club offers members a range of opportunities to earn points through purchases and then claim certain rewards for those points.

Popular Cinema Locations

As we’ve mentioned, Regal Entertainment Group has over 564 cinemas operating under its three main brands. And far more than half of those operate solely under the Regal Cinema brand.

So, we went on a mini-mission to find out which of these cinemas are the most popular ones in the company. And we think we did it.

Here are a few of the most popular Regal Cinema locations we were able to find:

  • Regal LA LIVE Stadium 14 – 4.5/5 from 819 reviews – 1000 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
  • Regal Hollywood Stadium 14 – 4.0/5 from 364 reviews – 3265 Northeast Expy, Chamblee, GA
  • Regal Manor Stadium 16 – 4.3/5 from 163 reviews – Manor Shopping Center, 1246 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA
